Basic Needs

About

College can be a challenging time; access to affordable and healthy food, stable housing, and comprehensive mental health resources should not be an additional stressor. The Basic Needs Team, composed of partners from the Dean of Students Office, Center for Agroecology and Sustainable Food Systems and the Blum Center for Participatory Governance work toward a vision where hunger and other basic needs crises are not a normalized part of the college experience. While we work toward this vision, we hope to alleviate some of the immediate burden through strong emergency relief and crisis intervention services, as well as peer-led programs to spread awareness of rights and resources. Visit basicneeds.ucsc.edu for more information campus wide Basic Needs initiatives.
