COVID-19 Operational Plans

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Dean of Students Office has suspended in-person operations until further notice. We will continue to offer our services and support on a remote basis. To reach a Dean of Students Office staff member, you may:

Slug Support Case Managers

Slug Support is available to all students on a remote basis. Please email deanofstudents@ucsc.edu to request an appointment with a Slug Support Case Manager. If this is a crisis (e.g., immediate food or housing insecurity or major distress), and to be assisted right away, please contact the Slug Support case manager on-call by calling (831) 459 -7003. We will be available for phone and Zoom appointments during our normal business hours (Mon-Fri 9:00 am-5:00pm).

Please note that campus police and Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) are also still available. Call 911 to be connected to dispatch or (831) 459-2628 to be connected to a CAPS counselor. We expect to return to in person availability as soon as classes resume in-person.

Slug Support Pantry

The Slug Support Pantry is updating its operations to adhere to COVID-19 precautions set in place by the State of California. In an effort to minimize risk we have created an appointment based pre-bagged grocery pick-up system starting on Wednesday 3/31/2020 and continuing every Wednesday throughout Spring Quarter 2020. 

Appointment Pre-packed Bags Pick-Up System 

  • We are moving to a Wednesday 9:00 am-5:00 pm, once a week, appointment only pick-up system. 
  • Bags will be pre-packed with pantry non-perishable staples the option to add eggs, bread, and frozen items at pick-up. We will begin adding produce to these pick-ups in the coming weeks. 
  • The sign-up sheet will refresh every Thursday morning. It is located here: https://www.wejoinin.com/sheets/pmxip
  • We ask that you refrain from waiting in line until your appointment. We will have marked spots for patrons to wait. 
  • Sign-in will happen using a QR code. Scan with your cellphone & Input your Student ID

What we’re asking from our patrons 

  • If you are feeling sick please do not come to the pantry. Contact deanofstudents@ucsc.edu to connect with a Slug Support Case Manager. 
  • Refrain from touching surfaces when in the pantry space. 
  • Do not linger around the pantry space before and after your appointment time. Stand at least 6 feet apart from other patrons when waiting in line. 
  • Stay informed by visiting our Instagram, @slugsupportpantry, and this web site.
